What to do's |
Those of you who will be coming to GATES for the first time are probably a little worried about the procedures. Some of you that are returning may be a little curious about the upcoming year. I have decided to share some "what to do's" that will assist in feeling less anxious.
|
Starting The GATES Day |
I will pick each grade level up at 8:20 a.m. You will spend the entire day with me except for the time you have special area. I will take you back to class at 2:40 p.m. This will give you time to gather homework assignments and hear end of the day instructions from your homeroom teacher.
|
Students will be required to complete and/or develop a product/project for each unit of study. All products/projects will be graded with rubrics, have required writing components and presentation components. As we progress through the year, students will be able to choose the product they would like to complete based on their learning and expression styles. At this stage, I will assist them in setting clear and realistic goals and expectations.

Term Grades |

Behavior |
We all have moments when our behavior is awesome and often times when it could be a little more polished. It is how we react in those times when we are not having the best day that often go noticed. I like for my students to know that I understand we all have "bad days" but we have to be responsible for the actions we take on those days. Students will manage their behavior via the "Be PAWSitive" clip chart. On this chart, everyone starts out on green. This indicates they are ready to learn. Throughout the course of the day their behavior will determine whether they are allowed to move up or down on the chart.
